旺角佔領一開場，即時成為佔中行動的焦點，謠言滿天飛！未去過的朋友，聞說旺角成了三不管地帶，黑社會當道，危險勿近。更甚者，更有人建議佔中應與旺角切割；去過的朋友又會說，旺角好自由，MK得黎好氣氛，還有義氣紋身貨車司機以車做路障，仗義保護，感動旺角佔領包容了不同階層人士，以他們各自的位置參與佔領。筆者昨天一整天，忙於應付不同地方朋友的問候，有朋友遠洋關注，擔心各人安全，我們為了讓大家了更全面了解旺角佔領，我們就先從糾察故事開始！
昨晚零晨旺角確是令人出了一身冷汗，先有疑似醉酒的人，有騷擾途參與者的。更驚險的是，一輛BENZ在亞皆老街高速衡入人群。
據現場目擊者稱，當時險像橫生，一個經驗豐富的糾察也給嚇了一跳，比起食催淚彈更驚嚇，因為他看到差點有人被撞中。旺角佔領是由群眾響應佔中，自發佔領的地方，是佔領遍地開花的結果，並未有足夠經驗處理抗爭現場的安保問題。佔領的第二天，一些有經驗的朋友便自發組成糾察隊，協助會場的保安工作，守護抗爭者。可是，人算不如天算，9月28日第一晚佔領，旺角場只有二千人左右，第二天最高峰人數激增至幾萬，晚上仍然有上萬人集會，完全超出了糾察的預想。
有人說，旺角場特別麻煩，還有很多刻意抹黑或猜測，但是，旺角卻是這樣一個義氣仔女雲集的場。先不說圍繞著佔領區，一批批貨車司機，以他們的搵食工具──寶貝貨車作路障，保護佔領區。當飛車事件發生後，佔領群眾極速反應，追著跑車認車牌，一旁的貨車司機，敏捷跳上車一路追去。然後，群眾開始集體發車牌信息，人肉司機。最後，明報記者破案！
事後，有些群眾因為擔心安全，亦未從驚嚇中走出來，故離開了，但現場仍留下了數千人留守。大家都保持高度警惕，群眾自發在不同路口設置路障，貨車司機即時再召朋友，開車到不同路口，以車作路障，把車橫列於路中，形成十分安全的路障。同時，糾察隊即時決定擴大隊伍人數，即時在現場招募多人，進行簡單介紹。有十多名新朋友加入，經過簡單培訓，並抄下各人身份證──為了保障群眾亦為了保障糾察本身，以防有意外。
新糾察隊伍成立後，巡場兩次，確保每個位置都有效路障，同時，跟每個路障的貨南司機和私家車車司機聊天，了解情況，同時確保司機是無可疑的。當他們在亞階老街與西洋菜街口交界處，有四五輪貨車及私家車，司機都帶著口罩，車牌都遮上，糾察上前聊天，他表現神秘，並不肯說明自己身份。其他大部分司都很願意聊，同時司機亦理解保安需要，都願意抄下身份證和車牌予糾察。最後，大會糾察前去問可疑司機登記身份證及車牌，最後他們什麼也不說，即時開車走了。
與此同時，現場朋友為了保護同伴，自發成立了放風隊，於不同制高點，觀察環境，發現可疑人物即時互相通報，同時與糾察隊配合。當晚，又再有些小問題發生，但都一一被糾察和市民處理了。有危有機，經此一役，所有在場朋友都明白，糾察的重要性，學會了互相保護！
事件過後，糾察們聚在一起，鬆了一口氣後，大家都驚嘆：這簡直就是旺角黑夜！有糾察差點忍不住眼淚，為貨車司機們的義氣，為群眾的團結與勇敢而感動。我想，大家心裡一定在想，要更努力保護這個場：自己運動自己保護。
這是旺角，這裡很可愛！
這個教訓是，如果大家要遍地開花佔領，首要慬記：成立糾察隊！原來，一場抗爭背後，有這樣一批守護者，致敬！！
究竟旺角場安全不安全？這個問題沒有人能回答，但至少，網上流傳的不少東西是虛假信息。這晚旺角黑夜，給了我們一個這樣的答案──相信群眾。中環和金鍾，也危險，那是面對催淚彈的危險，旺角也危險，面對當權者和既得利益者可能的暗算。問題只有一個：那我們不站出來嗎？
Occupying Mong Kok - a voluntary scout’s first person account at the early hours of September 30, 2014
The translator’s remarks: Pro-democracy protesters are occupying pockets of areas in Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok. The occupation of Mong Kong started in the early hours of September 29. Among the places occupied, Mong Kok is the only working class district. Hong Kong’s elites hardly venture to this part of the city.
Mong Kok has been the focus of the whole movement since crowd took control of the area in the early hours Monday morning. The occupation of Mong Kok, from the beginning, has been bisected by rumours. Mong Kok site is perceived as a dangerous, lawlessness area controlled by gangs. There are suggestions that the Occupy Central movement should cut its tie with the crowds in Mong Kok.
But for those who have been to the Mong Kok site, the area is a place of free spirit.
The atmosphere is great. The site is a reflection of the characteristics of Mong Kok in general. For instance, we have men with tattoo turned their vans and trucks into roadblocks in order to protect the protesters. Many people in Hong Kong are deeply touched by these honorable acts.
I was at the Mong Kok site yesterday. As a volunteer scout, I will put down my first person account so the public will have a better idea of the protest in Mong Kok.
Atmosphere in Mong Kok has been tense since we first occupied the site. We suspected some drunken men have harassed protesters. At 1ish, a Mercedes Benz drove into the crowd at full speed. The scene shocked even a very experience scout. He said it was even more terrifying than police firing teargas to protesters. Protesters in Mong Kok.
Protesters in Mongkok have little experience on the handling security issues at the site. When the occupation entered the second day, the more experienced protesters suggest organising a scout team. To our surprise, the crowd grew from 2,000 when it was first started to over 100,000 in the next day.
After the Mercedes Incident, protesters reacted extremely quickly. Some chased the car on foot and and took photo of the license plate, some hopped on their vehicles and started chasing. After that, information was spread quickly through their networks. The driver was found by a reporter working for daily newspaper Mingpao .
The incident was shocking, quite a number left the site because they worry about their safety. But the majority stayed. Those staying were on high alert. We set up more roadblocks at the road junctions. Those truck drivers who took their vehicles to protect the protesters summoned their friends to join with their trucks.
At the same time, more scout were recruited at the site. The experienced ones gave the new blood training. For safety reasons, protesters wrote down the identity card numbers of the scouts. The scout team patrolled the area twice, making sure every corner have roadblock set up. The scouts also chattering with the truck drivers, a move that would help building trust and clear suspicion.
At the junction between Argyle Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street, the scouts found several divers suspicious. They wore facemask and the car plates also appear rather suspicious. Despite repeated attempt made by the scouts, this group of drivers refused to tell who they are. While most of the drivers make public their identify card numbers to help building trust, this group of drivers refused. They drove away immediately after turning down the request of the scouts.
All over the night, there were a number of small disputes. But all were resolved. Because protesters understand the importance of having a group of scouts at the scene to fend off threats.
After resolving disputes, scouts gather for rest. We were amazed by the resemblance of the situation with the film “A night in Mongkok”. Some cried because of the brotherhood and loyalty of the truck drivers; some were touched by the solidarity and bravery of protesters. I am sure, everyone has we decided to protect this site. Our movement is our duty to protect.
Lesson from Mong Kok is, if we want to the movement to blossom, we must first setup a scout team. Every member of the team deserves our respect.
Is the Mong Kok site safe? I don’t know. But it is certain that many rumours are unfounded. The night in Mongkok has told us to trust people. Central and Admiralty are dangerous place, teargas may fire instantly. Mong Kok is also dangerous, but in a different way. The danger may come from dirty plots by the authorities. So it is pointless to ask whether Mong Kok is safe. The only question is: do we not come out and stand our ground because of potential threats?
