Immigrant labor got some temporary space from the region. They seem to
be identified. However, are they really recognized by different
nationalities? Or do they just look the same and have to lose their
identities because of their identical working duties?
Islam labor sell their dignity to their employer, in return of some
living spaces. They sell pork in Hong Kong and hide themselves in
washroom to pray.
Indonesian women came to Hong Kong to look after the children and
elderly of Hong Kong families. However, some of them became victims of
sexual harassment and home violence.
Vietnamese women with cosmetic skills went to Taiwan for development.
They can just look after elderly with severe sickness in hospital, in
return of a temporary folding bed for accommodation.
Immigrant labor cannot even take a rest from their work because of the
unreasonable holiday arrangement offered by employers. Hong Kong is
labeled as providing employment benefit of international standard to
immigrant housemaids. However, what could the international standard
measure of the hollow relationship between the housemaids and their
employers?
Neither of the governments would bear the responsibility to solve the
problems. People are just drawn into the modern slaving system under
the globalization. How can we take our inborn human rights in a foreign
country?
Two documentaries from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Every participant in these
two documentaries observes and describes the immigrant labor who have
been ignored day by day. Would it be a good reference for us to have a
closer and more personal sight of the immigrant labor?
