Topic 1: The Haunting of the Digital Copy (Walter Benjamin)
The "digital copy" and the economical and social problem that go along with
it is the starting point for Mercedes Bunz’lecture. She will go back to
Walter Benjamin's essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical
Reproduction" (1936). Benjamin tried to import an utopian moment into the
technique of film. This utopian moment will be imported into the technique
of the digital copy.

Mercedes Bunz is the co-founder of the successful "DE:BUG" magazine which
includes critical articles about cinema, music and culture. Her latest essay
on media theory dealt with "The Man-Machine-Relationship" published in the
book "Sound Signatures".
Topic 2: Creative Commons (Alternative Lizenzen)
Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that offers a flexible
copyright for creative work. Like the free software and open-source
movements, its ends are cooperative and community-minded, but its means is
voluntary and libertarian. Founded in 2001 it is led by a board of experts
on cyber law, computer science, film and intellectual property. Its aim is
to reduce barriers (of strict copyright policy) to creativity.

Volker Grassmuck
Volker Grassmuck studied at the Free University (FU) of Berlin and the
University of Tokyo. Besides writing as a free journalist he recently works
for the project "Bild Schrift Zahl" ("Picture Scripture Digit") at the
Humboldt University (HU) of Berlin together with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Coy
dealing with Technology and Culture under the "Digital Revolution".
