環保，對某些人而言，或者只是「藍廢紙、黃鋁罐、啡膠樽」。但循環再造(Recycle)明顯未能解決都市的廢物問題，而且我們的棄置物又真的是「廢物」嗎﹖
《地毯、橫額與皮革—升級創造實驗展》是一個關於棄置物料的實驗。在籌備展覽的設計工作坊中，一群年青設計師把棄置物料重新轉化為有價值的產品。此實驗期望提倡一個可持續的系統，從物料收集，產品開發，到生產方式，實踐「升級再造」(Upcycle)，以期減低現行方式的物料浪費與能源消耗。
Carpet, Banner and Leather – Experiments in Upcycling Design
To most Hong Kong people, the concept of recycling is confined to trash categorization. Green industry, however, does not stop here. When recycling can barely handle the excessive waste we produce every day, perhaps it is timely to introduce the idea of “Upcycling”.
Carpet, Banner and Leather is a workshop-generated exhibition that showcases the experiments by young designers to transform “trash” into potentially marketable products. Spanning across material collecting, industry and social enterprise, these are proposals towards a sustainable system, and will cast impact on our strategies of waste handling and energy saving.
