Position: Campaigner (Full-time)
Job responsibilities:
1. Plan and coordinate local and international advocacy campaigns including protest, street forum, publicity event, workshop, etc. to advocate for human rights lawyers and legal rights defenders in Mainland China
2. Develop strategic communications plan and delivery of bilingual (Chinese and English) materials including press release, column article, website, brochure, presentation, photo and video, etc.
3. Liaise with journalists and foreign correspondents to generate media support and coverage; arrange briefings with legal scholars and embassy officials around relevant issues
Requirements:
1. University graduate
2. With 2 years working experience, in NGO setting is preferred; applicants with less working experience but with relevant voluntary work experience will also be considered
3. Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English
4. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Chinese word processing; knowledge of design and multimedia software would be an advantage
5. Knowledge and interest in using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, Google+, Skype, etc.)
6. Demonstrated commitment in human rights and a good team player
7. Flexible in working hours and willing to work overtime when required
8. Immediately available is preferred

Description of organisation: China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group (CHRLCG) is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong SAR. It targets on advocating for the protection of the rights of human rights lawyers and legal rights defenders in China.
It was established on 20 January 2007. Current board members included prominent human rights lawyer and legislator Albert Ho Chun-yan (Chair), legislator Emily Lau Wai-hing (Vice-chairperson), barristers Cheung Yiu-leung, Linda Wong (Treasurer) and Dennis Kwok, solicitors John Clancey and Chong Yiu-kwong (Secretary), and journalism professor To Yiu-ming. The initial funding of this group valued at HK$1.2 million per year is generously provided by Sir Joseph Hotung. The group is expanding with some new funding sources.
We acknowledge that despite their endeavours to fight for the rights of the underprivileged within the legal framework, many lawyers and legal activists in China have been subject to tremendous political pressure and unfair treatment by the Chinese authorities. They and their families deserve more attention and support from Hong Kong society and the international community.
