Prof. Dirlik, with his extraordinary background, has never failed to deliver acute insights with multi-cultural and multi-continental consideration. It is our greatest honor and pleasure to have him as our guest-speaker for our readers in Hong Kong, one of most important powerhouse for global cultural interactions.
In his latest book just published in 2007, “Global Modernity: Modernity in the Age of Global Capitalism”, the topic is handled in both historical and sociological dimensions. It examined a variety of topics, from the historical origins of globalization and colonization, to a comparative study on the alternatives of globalization, and finally on the impact of a new-born capitalistic China to the rest of the world.
In the coming sharing, the new book will serve as the starting point to share his long journey as a historian who has concentrated on Chinese Marxist ideology.
